You'll join the Coinbase Institutional team responsible for a suite of products for institutional customers, including Hedge Funds and experienced traders. The Institutional, Derivatives Exchange team seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a talented engineering team solving industry-leading challenges in the crypto derivatives business in the US and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams building critical systems for institutional products shaping the crypto landscape.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leadership to translate vision into a roadmap and break down complex projects.
• Provide technical leadership in architectural decisions and foster a culture of high-quality and operational excellence.
• Coach direct reports to positively impact the organization and support career growth.
• Partner with talent organization to recruit engineers aligned with Coinbase culture.
• Own processes driving engineering quality and meeting SLAs.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years software engineering experience.
• At least 1 year engineering management experience.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy and short-term planning.
• Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.
• Hands-on with code reviews, technical documents, on-call rotations, incident management, and bug triage/troubleshooting.
• Passion for building an open financial system leveraging crypto and blockchain.

Nice to Haves

• Experience scaling engineering teams rapidly.
• Familiarity with blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres.
• Experience building financial, high reliability, or security systems.
• Crypto-forward experience including interaction with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps, or blockchain-based services.

Pay Range: $218,025 — $256,500 USD per year (full-time offers include target bonus, equity, and benefits).
