This role is part of the Institutional Product Group which builds products for institutional customers including Coinbase Prime, Advanced Trade, Prime - Custody Only, Prime Web3 Wallet, Commerce and Exchange. The Prime Trading Interfaces team focuses on public-facing APIs that connect end users and algorithmic trading systems, providing highly resilient and fault tolerant services (99.99% uptime) for placing trades, canceling orders, streaming market data and generating reports. The system handles streaming and unary requests with millions of requests per day across multiple endpoints and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5-6 engineers.
  • Establish team mechanisms and norms for effective and efficient execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners on product and operational strategy.
  • Coordinate with QA to triage incoming issues.
  • Monitor and triage issues with downstream partners.
  • Establish operating metrics and ensure they are met.
  • Own product surface areas and features including:
    • Prime Public APIs
    • Prime Public FIX
    • Trading Router

Requirements

  • Build and manage full-stack engineering teams to guide development of features, services, and infrastructure across web and mobile.
  • Coach direct reports to have positive impact and support career growth.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps; break down complex projects and lead iterative design and implementation.
  • Act as a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
  • Work closely with the talent organization to identify and recruit engineers aligned with Coinbase's culture.
  • Contribute to and own processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.

Nice to haves

  • Experience managing backend-centric or full-stack teams/products.
  • Hands-on experience in technical architecture.
  • Experience with highly distributed systems built for scale in cloud-centric environments.

Compensation

  • Pay Range: 217,900 β€” 217,900 CAD (target annual salary). Full time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
