Engineering Manager, Media Foundation: Ingestion & Serving Team

We are building Airbnb’s next-gen Media infrastructure, a mission-critical foundation that powers the immersive experiences central to our product vision. As part of the Product Foundation Org, you and your team will be at the forefront of innovation, directly impacting how millions of users engage with Airbnb by building and improving the core media capabilities that unlock a whole slew of exciting new features across the platform. Your work will be crucial to shaping the future of discovery, booking, and connection on Airbnb.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software engineers to build and operate Airbnb’s Media infrastructure (Ingestion & Serving).
• Define and execute an end-to-end vision and roadmap for Airbnb’s Media Foundation in partnership with team leads and cross-functional partners.
• Nurture a culture of technical quality from design through code review to production and ongoing operational excellence.
• Build strong partnerships with internal teams across product, infrastructure engineering, marketing, and operations by developing and communicating a clear and impactful vision and priorities for the team.
• Mentor and empower senior individual contributors to grow their impact beyond individual contributions and create opportunities for them to lead cross-platform technical initiatives.
• Drive day-to-day operations, technical deep dives, community engagement, and strategic planning for the team.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of engineering management experience and 9+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment.
• Strong expertise in building large-scale backend systems and experience building & maintaining media infrastructure.
• Demonstrated focus on quality, reliability, availability, and operational excellence for production systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teams across engineering, product, and design.
• Flexible leadership style; able to adapt to different ways of working depending on the situation.
• Ability to identify, retain, grow, and acquire critical talent.

Location

• This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (see Airbnb careers page for excluded states: https://careers.airbnb.com/).

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $204,000—$255,000 USD (base pay range). The actual base pay is dependent on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands, and may be modified in the future.
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
