The Engineering Manager will lead the Pipelines squad responsible for enabling Customer.io to be a source of trusted data, empowering marketers with accurate, real-time customer data. This role involves building high-scale, distributed systems and intuitive user experiences, focusing on services that allow customers to seamlessly move data into and out of the platform and cleanse data during the process.
Responsibilities
- Lead effective squad rituals and ensure production readiness through quality peer-review, documentation, deployment, logging, and monitoring practices
- Ensure solutions are scalable, architecturally sound, flexible, and secure
- Create accountability for delivery timelines while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and empathetic environment
- Provide coaching and development across backend, front-end, full stack, and QA engineers
- Hire, onboard, and manage performance to achieve business objectives
- Understand Customer.io’s vision, business model, markets, acquisition channels, competitors, and products to drive meaningful investigation
- Build and maintain partnerships with Product Management and Design teams
Requirements
- Experience working in North/South American time zones
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Engineering Manager in a SaaS product company (B2B or B2C), preferably early-to-mid-stage
- Deep understanding of SaaS architecture, languages (Go), technologies, and cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS)
- Ability to understand technical architecture, evaluate new technologies, review proposals, and mentor engineers
- Experience building and nurturing high performing teams
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
