Responsibilities

• Hands-on architecture and development of platform for all LLM use-cases at Coinbase while leading a team of individual contributors.
• Provide technical structure and define strategic roadmaps with management and stakeholders.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using technical expertise.
• Understand Machine Learning Engineers’ needs, capabilities, and gaps.
• Mentor junior engineers to enhance their software engineering skills.
• Raise engineering standards to ensure high-availability and low-latency ML inference infrastructure for predictive ML models and LLMs.
• Optimize low latency streaming pipelines to supply fresh, high-quality data for ML models.
• Evangelize best practices for building high-performance distributed training jobs processing large data volumes.
• Build tools to monitor data quality for models and detect performance degradations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Minimum 2 years engineering management experience.
• Proven experience designing, building, and scaling production applications with hands-on leadership.
• Experience uplifting junior engineers and fostering high-quality code and engineering processes.
• Strong empathy for customer stakeholders.
• Passion for building an open financial system.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to transparent culture.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with rapid company growth phases (startup to mid-size).
• Experience with Golang, Docker, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Background working with AI or LLM models.
