The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase including Product Foundations (e.g. Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.

The Coinbase Risk Team's mission is to accelerate Coinbase growth by enabling effective financial threat management for the business and users. The team focuses on building the end-to-end experience providing world-class user experience using front-end technologies and backend services using microservices architecture. You will create the multi-year roadmap for making engineering & platform development at Coinbase a joy. To help drive this roadmap, you’ll embed with the product teams and listen to their customer needs to accelerate efforts.

Responsibilities

• Implement the multi-year strategy for Risk engineering with technical leadership on your team.
• Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and chart a fulfilling career path.
• Be a thoughtful technical voice and support your team in making diligent architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap.
• Work with talent organization to source and hire amazing engineers who will expand the Coinbase culture and product.
• Add positive energy in meetings and make coworkers feel included.
• Contribute to owning and delivering processes to drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
• Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes.
• Execution-focused mindset capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning.
• Experience in creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Hands-on when needed: writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in on-call rotations and leading incidents, troubleshooting bugs.
• Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together.
