Engineering Manager, Product Platform

Sentry helps developers write better software faster by building performance and error monitoring tools used by hundreds of thousands of organizations. The core product organization owns primary product surfaces of Sentry.io, processing tens of billions of events per day and operating distributed systems globally. The Product Platform team owns shared systems within core product such as IAM, billing, and framework-layer interfaces within a monolithic Python/Django application (including state synchronization across regions and integration layers with acquisitions).

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of platform engineers; build a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
• Define and drive the team's roadmap, aligning goals with organizational objectives and contributing to overall platform strategy.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex distributed systems and software design.
• Partner with business operations, security, and engineering teams to translate business objectives into scalable solutions.
• Define and implement robust processes and automations for 24x7 operational coverage; proactively identify areas for improvement.
• Communicate team progress, challenges, and strategy to senior leadership and stakeholders; represent the team internally and externally (e.g., blog posts, presentations).
• Participate actively in hiring to expand the team and attract top engineering talent.

Requirements

• 3+ years leading engineers.
• 5+ years professional engineering experience, preferably with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or similar.
• Experience with distributed systems and software architecture; familiarity with operating large-scale, globally distributed systems.
• Experience with Django (monolithic Python Django application is a primary codebase context).
• Experience or familiarity with IAM and/or billing systems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and succinctly.
• Product-minded: experience scoping/estimating work, allocating resources, determining milestones, driving execution, and ensuring customer success (zero-to-one product experience).
• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting career progression.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $200,000 to $240,000 (final amount determined by factors including work location, experience, skills, etc.).
• Eligible to participate in Sentry's employee benefit plans/programs including incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
