Team description

The Staking Platform team builds platform services to empower high quality staking products for retail and institutional customers. Staking is a major revenue product at Coinbase and the team focuses on abstracting blockchain complexities into simple, easy-to-use platform APIs for product teams. The team operates multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage engineering teams to guide development of features, services, and infrastructure.
• Coach direct reports, support career growth, and foster engineering quality and strong processes.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps; break down complex projects and lead iterative design and implementation.
• Serve as a thoughtful technical voice, aid in architectural decisions, and foster high-quality code and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Work with talent teams to recruit exceptional engineers aligned with Coinbase culture.
• Contribute to and own processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
• Be hands-on when needed: write/review code or technical docs, participate in on-call rotations, lead incidents, triage/troubleshoot bugs.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
• Strong understanding of what constitutes high-quality code and effective engineering processes.
• Execution-focused mindset; able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term planning.
• Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Willingness and ability to be hands-on (code, on-call, incident leadership, troubleshooting).
• Passion for building an open financial system.

Nice to haves

• Insistence on high operational excellence.
• Experience with large-scale, high-throughput distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Experience with blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Crypto-forward experience, including onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

• Pay Range: $217,800 — $217,800 CAD
• Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.).
