We are seeking a highly technical Engineering Manager, specializing in trading systems, to establish and lead a local team in Singapore. This team will primarily focus on the IntX product and collaborate with the US Trading team to define and deliver Coinbase's next-generation trading system for IntX. The role involves leading multi-quarter, cross-organizational initiatives, mentoring engineers, and delivering high-quality trading products that address both local and global customer requirements. While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, in-person participation is required throughout the year; team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually and attendance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Drive the technical vision and execution of complex, multi-quarter projects across multiple engineering teams.
• Lead the design and development of mission-critical trading systems, including order management, execution engines, and reliability infrastructure.
• Partner with Product Management, Design, and other functions to align product strategy with long-term technical bets and roadmap.
• Deeply understand and influence the trading stack and product roadmap, identifying strategic technical initiatives.
• Mentor and coach engineers across various levels, fostering growth and developing the next generation of trading and infrastructure leaders.
• Elevate engineering quality and promote best practices through design review, code review guidance, and process improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping large-scale distributed systems and significant leadership roles.
• Deep expertise in trading systems (traditional or crypto), with hands-on experience and strategic oversight in areas such as order management, execution algorithms, market data, or risk management.
• Customer-obsessed with strong product intuition to inform technical decision-making and strategic planning.
• Proven ability to lead and drive complex initiatives across organizational boundaries, influence stakeholders, and achieve consensus.
• Strong mentoring skills and a passion for building high-performing teams.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-stakes, high-velocity environments while providing clear direction and stability.
• High bar for quality, correctness, and operational excellence; able to instill these values within the team.

Nice to Haves

• Prior experience building complicated trading systems.
• Experience in financial markets (equities, FX, or crypto).
• Familiarity with regulated environments and designing for compliance and auditability.
• Experience working with Go or other performant backend languages.
• Contributions to open source or trading protocols.

Pay

• Pay Range (target annual salary): 224100 — 224100 SGD. Full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
