We’re looking for an Executive Business Partner to support two technical executives who run highly cross-functional teams that service every product line.

About the Role

The Executive Business Partner will be a proactive and adaptable partner to executives, managing complex scheduling, coordinating projects, and optimizing workflows. This role requires independence, task-level ownership, and a deep understanding of OpenAI’s mission to foster AGI that benefits humanity. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, rapidly-evolving business priorities, and can drive best practices to help scale exec and team operations.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong connections within the immediate team and across other departments, becoming a trusted partner to leaders. This includes understanding team dynamics, priorities, and stakeholders, and facilitating seamless coordination on high-stakes projects.
  • Share information clearly and efficiently, adapting communication styles for a broad range of audiences.
  • Balance the calendars and priorities of multiple leaders, demonstrating prioritization skills and agility in adapting to shifts in priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Operate with discretion and independence, proactively optimizing processes and flagging risks, while ensuring sensitive information is handled with care.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience in an executive support role or a similar support function.
  • Experience supporting VP-level senior technology leaders.
  • Experience working directly with technical teams (Engineering, Product, and/or Design) in a high-growth startup or similar environment.
  • Experience supporting multiple leaders with complex and highly cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability managing and optimizing extremely busy calendars.
  • Strong mastery of project-based tools and tracking near-/long-term deliverables.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Professionalism and discretion; understanding of confidentiality and transparency balance.
  • Independent, task-level operator with strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, one-team mindset.
  • Extremely fluent in Slack, Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and other modern productivity software; eagerness to learn new tools.
  • Genuine interest in the technology OpenAI is building and the transformative potential of AI.
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing and often ambiguous environment.
