Details

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

This role is based in Paris and will guide strategic engagements primarily in France while supporting the wider EMEA team (including Southern Europe and Africa). Working closely with the International policy team (US) and the EMEA policy team, the role will shape Anthropic's approach to policy and regulatory developments in France and southern Europe during a critical period in AI development and governance. You will be the day-to-day point of contact for the French government and its partners, and work closely with the EMEA public sector sales team to support public sector deployment of Claude in high-leverage use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead policy engagement with the French and other regional governments and public sector partners on issues related to government policy and regulatory implications for frontier labs
  • Engage key policy stakeholders (e.g., via briefings, consultations, demos, roundtables) in coordination with the wider EMEA policy team
  • Partner with the EMEA GTM team to support commercial efforts
  • Support and promote public-private research collaborations
  • Build a coalition of government agencies, nonprofits, safety institutes, and academics in Europe to share knowledge around AI policy and regulation
  • Collaborate with technical teams to translate Anthropic research into concrete policy proposals, stakeholder education, and thought leadership opportunities
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the French government and its partners, ensuring Anthropic leadership understands their priorities

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience working in public policy, corporate affairs, or a combination of government and related private sector experience
  • High agency and ability to develop and execute strategy independently while coordinating with cross-functional teams (policy, go-to-market, trust and safety, legal, product, research, communications, and marketing)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly when briefing policymakers and government officials
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in a complicated technical subject and associated policy/regulatory questions (ideally AI, but other relevant technical domains are acceptable)
  • Experience of, or leadership in, campaign efforts to shape or create policy change in France
  • Willingness/ability to engage with national governments across Southern Europe as Anthropic grows its presence in EMEA
  • Willingness to travel in EMEA (once or twice per quarter) and occasionally to the United States

Compensation

  • Expected base annual salary: €215,000 - €255,000 EUR
  • Total compensation package for full-time employees includes equity, benefits, and may include incentive compensation

Logistics / Benefits / Other

  • Education requirements: at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Location-based hybrid policy: staff expected to be in one of Anthropic's offices at least 25% of the time (some roles may require more time in offices)
  • Visa sponsorship: Anthropic does sponsor visas and will make reasonable efforts to obtain a visa when an offer is made; an immigration lawyer is retained to assist
  • Encouragement to apply even if you do not meet every qualification; Anthropic values diverse perspectives and representation
