Perplexity is seeking an experienced frontend-focused engineer to help revolutionize the way people search and interact online. In this role, you'll be developing the future of AI products and working closely with the design systems team to build and maintain the foundational UI pieces used across the product.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the design systems team to build an excellent user interaction layer for all features, including both standard reusable components and primitive pieces of generative UI.
  • Build and improve components that form the building blocks of Perplexity's frontend.
  • Continuously improve interaction quality, fit & finish, and team velocity.
  • Prototype and experiment to validate interaction ideas and improve user experience.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience building and maintaining user interface systems at large scale.
  • Strong coding fundamentals and some experience working across the stack.
  • Experience with highly interactive React applications using strongly typed code (TypeScript).
  • Knowledgeable about design and UI patterns at scale.
  • Passion for prototyping, experimentation, and creating accessible experiences.
  • Extreme ownership mindset and attention to small details.
