Role overview
You will join a team responsible for building ING’s next-generation Data Analytics Platform on Google Cloud. As a GCP Platform Engineer you will work in a multinational, distributed team delivering scalable, secure, and automated cloud solutions that enable data-driven innovation across ING. The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer IV”.
Responsibilities
- Designing, building, and maintaining ING’s Data Analytics Platform on GCP
- Developing infrastructure automation services using Golang
- Creating and maintaining cloud-native, scalable, and secure solutions
- Supporting platform users and ensuring smooth onboarding of tenants
- Improving and evolving key platform components and architecture
- Implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Ensuring platform reliability, including participation in on-call rotations
- Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Hands-on experience building data platforms on GCP using services such as Cloud Run, Vertex AI, GKE, BigQuery, Dataproc, and GCS
- Strong experience in Golang (must-have), particularly in building infrastructure or automation services
- Infrastructure-as-Code mindset (Terraform required)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (e.g., Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of cloud-native architecture principles and infrastructure automation practices
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including VPC, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls
- Solid understanding of secure authentication and encryption concepts (e.g., OIDC, KMS, SSL/TLS)
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts and contribute to design documentation and discussions
- English language proficiency at B2 level or higher
