As the Global Business Insights & Automation Lead, you will combine the analytical depth of a data scientist with the strategic storytelling and executive communication of a management consultant. You will lead a small, high-impact team to design, automate, and operationalize global business insight systems that power OpenAI’s decision-making at scale. You will work closely with Finance leadership, GTM, Product, and Engineering to surface the “why behind the numbers,” automate recurring analytics, and develop frameworks that connect business drivers to company strategy.
Responsibilities
- Become an expert in OpenAI’s data, systems, and business dynamics across products and regions.
- Lead the design and implementation of global KPI frameworks and insight automation systems that serve cross-functional partners.
- Architect scalable data products — dashboards, variance analyzers, pacing models, and agentic workflows — to deliver proactive insights.
- Automate recurring reporting and analysis using OpenAI’s internal tools, surfacing real-time business trends and performance drivers.
- Partner with FP&A to connect financial performance with operational and product metrics, improving forecasting accuracy and investment decisions.
- Build models and frameworks for segmentation, pricing, and LTV to uncover growth opportunities and efficiency levers.
- Translate complex analyses into clear, concise executive narratives — distilling technical detail into actionable insights.
- Coach and develop a small, high-performing team of analytics engineers and data scientists, ensuring analytical rigor and stakeholder trust.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in analytics, business insights, or data science — ideally combining management consulting experience (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, or BCG) with hands-on work in a high-growth technology company.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Operations Research, etc.) preferred.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python; comfortable building analytical models and automated pipelines.
- Deep experience with BI tools such as Tableau and building scalable dashboards and metric layers used by executives.
- Strong understanding of financial and operational metrics (e.g., revenue, margin, LTV, CAC, WAU/DAU, ARPU) and how they interact across functions.
- Expertise in forecasting, financial modeling, segmentation, pricing, and LTV modeling.
- Excellent executive storytelling and communication skills — simplifying complexity and influencing decisions with clarity and credibility.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and take ownership of problems end-to-end.
- Experience leading and mentoring analytics engineers and data scientists; ability to ensure analytical rigor and stakeholder trust.
Benefits
- Base pay range: $255,000 - $405,000 (role may include equity and performance-related bonus(es)).
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
- Pre-tax accounts: Health FSA, Dependent Care FSA, and commuter benefits.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
- Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave; flexible PTO and paid company holidays/office closures.
- Mental health and wellness support; employer-paid basic life and disability coverage.
- Annual learning and development stipend.
- Daily meals in offices and meal delivery credits as eligible.
- Relocation support for eligible employees.
- Additional taxable fringe benefits (charitable donation matching, wellness stipends, etc.).
