Do you enjoy hacking and tinkering at the lowest levels of software? Are you capable of crafting and implementing creative solutions in heavily resource-constrained environments? Join the GPU Firmware team to design and implement display firmware for GPUs that drive HDMI, DP, and eDP displays. In firmware, tight constraints such as security, boot-time, and storage shape every solution β every byte counts. You will work with a diverse, highly skilled team to shape the future of GPU display technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, debug, and optimize GPU firmware throughout the entire GPU lifecycle
- Implement industry-standard display technologies, including HDMI, DisplayPort (DP), eDP, and the UEFI Graphics Output Protocol
- Work closely with hardware, software, infrastructure, and business teams to transform new display features from idea to reality
- Collaborate with OS and PC vendors to improve and innovate the startup experience
- Create, document, and automate workflows, processes, and tooling for internal and external team projects
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with display technologies such as HDMI, DP, and eDP
- Sturdy technical background in UEFI firmware development
- In-depth understanding of PC notebook and desktop architecture
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and coding practices
- Strong skills in Python and C, plus general scripting ability
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with hardware designers and software engineers to design, develop, and debug GPU subsystems and display functionality
Ways to stand out
- Background with display protocol analyzers
- Experience developing device BIOS, firmware, or other low-level software
- Familiarity with x86 and VGA assembly programming
- Experience with OS user- and kernel-mode drivers
- Passion for optimizing systems and mentoring others
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary ranges (determined by location, experience, and comparable pay):
- Level 3: 148,000 USD - 235,750 USD
- Level 4: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD
- Eligible for equity and company benefits (see company benefits page)
