Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, Coinbase is seeking an Engineering Leader to join Trust & Loyalty to help kick Coinbase One (CB1) Growth into overdrive. This team partners closely with the broader Coinbase One team to build a membership offering (CB1) that provides benefits like zero trading fees, boosted staking rewards, account protection, and priority support. The role focuses on funnel experimentation, internationalization, on-chain and partnership initiatives across web and mobile.

The role is remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year for team and company-wide offsites. Job #: GCEM06US. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage full-stack engineering teams to guide development of features, services, and infrastructure across both web and mobile.
  • Coach direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap. Break down complex projects and lead iterative design and implementation.
  • Act as a thoughtful technical voice: contribute to architectural decisions, foster a culture of high-quality code and sound engineering processes, and ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
  • Work closely with talent teams to identify and recruit engineers aligned with Coinbase culture.
  • Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet engineering SLAs.
  • Be hands-on when needed (writing/reviewing code or technical documents, participating in on-call rotations and leading incidents, triaging/troubleshooting bugs).

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering.
  • At least 2 years of engineering management experience.
  • Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes.
  • Experience building and managing full-stack engineering teams for web and mobile products.
  • Execution-focused mindset; able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and to break down complex projects into smaller, iterative work.
  • Comfortable participating in on-call rotations, incident leadership, and meeting engineering SLAs.

Nice to haves

  • Experience leading a product team.
  • Experience with React, React Native, GraphQL, Golang, Kubernetes, and MongoDB.
  • Experience building financial, high-reliability systems and/or microservice architectures.
  • Experience building subscription platforms.
  • Crypto-forward experience: familiarity with on-chain activity (interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS), dApps, or blockchain-based services.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $211,650 — $249,000 USD (target annual salary; full-time offers also include target bonus, target equity, and benefits including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
  • Benefits include: medical/dental/vision plans, HSA with company contributions, disability and life insurance, 401(k) with company match, wellness stipend, mobile/internet reimbursement, connections stipend, volunteer time off, fertility counseling and benefits, generous time off/leave policy, and the option to be paid in digital currency.

Additional notes

  • Coinbase is remote-first but expects in-person participation throughout the year for offsites and collaboration.
  • Coinbase is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities.
  • The company pilots some AI tools for initial screening interviews and interview intelligence for note summarization; humans review interview responses and AI is not used to make employment decisions.
