Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Connect is Stripe’s solution for orchestrating money movement across multiple parties, powering platforms and marketplaces like Shopify and DoorDash. Our organization owns critical onboarding flows and APIs that process hundreds of millions of requests per day. Our work is core to Stripe’s business, and thousands of developers use our platform and infrastructure to create valuable products and services that billions of people use. Our goal is to increase the GDP of the internet by making it easy to build global products, services, and platforms that handle money. Integration Reliability Engineering is a role that offers a unique blend of technical expertise, high agency problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities for our organization to function as efficiently as possible, and driving technical and operational solutions to capitalize on them.
What you’ll do
Responsibilities
- Become a domain expert in the Connect product space. Understand deeply how our users use Connect, and how Connect powers distribution of other Stripe products.
- Drive cross-Stripe technical initiatives, like partnering across engineering teams to drive down latency in complex user flows.
- Identify and automate inefficient or unnecessary manual processes by making direct code changes, or coordinating more complex code changes across Stripe.
- Organize and direct complex technical changes as part of product releases and user migrations.
- Design alerting systems using existing tools to respond to incidents quickly, or prevent them altogether.
- Handle inquiries from internal Stripes and external partners' technical teams with detailed investigation and sometimes code changes.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Technical Operations roles are one part coding and one part managing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in both, but successful candidates may index more highly in one or the other. We work mostly in Ruby and Java. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general coding skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework.
Minimum requirements
- 3+ years of work experience (excluding tenure from internships)
- Ability to write high quality code. We work mostly in Ruby and Typescript. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general coding skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework
- Comfort using SQL to navigate Stripe's data and diagnose the scope and urgency of issues
- Comfort with developer tools (e.g. git), and an ability to make well-scoped code changes in Stripe's codebase
- Great technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop a working understanding of a technical system using a variety of methods. These include (but aren't limited to): reading/writing code, reading documentation or partner specifications, running debugging programs, reading logs, asking well-formed questions to domain experts, or digging into the raw data through various interfaces.
- Great communication skills, with an ability to frame messages appropriately for technical and non-technical audiences
- The will to deliver results, with an ability to establish priorities and reliably execute on solutions (often with hard external deadlines)
- An instinct to produce work that increases the impact of others, and helps us scale and grow (e.g. documentation, tools)

Hybrid work at Stripe
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
Pay and benefits
The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is C$112,100 - C$168,100. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
