Are you ready to shape the future of banking? As a GenAI Chatbot Security Research Intern at ING Bank, you will investigate vulnerabilities such as prompt injection, jailbreak techniques, model manipulation, and other emerging threats in GenAI models that power customer-facing chatbots. This internship sits at the intersection of AI innovation and financial security and focuses on safeguarding conversational banking experiences.
Team
The role is part of the Chatbot team, which includes domain experts, data analysts and machine learning engineers. The teamβs objective is to increase chatbot helpfulness and improve customer experience across channels.
Responsibilities
- Research emerging security threats to GenAI chatbots, with a focus on prompt injection, jailbreak tactics, model manipulation, and adversarial inputs.
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate how GenAI models behave under different attack vectors.
- Develop methodologies and testing frameworks to systematically detect and measure model vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with engineers and security experts to translate research insights into actionable improvements for the chatbot platform.
- Propose mitigation strategies that protect customers and safeguard conversational banking integrity.
- Communicate findings in technical documentation and presentations to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Current student (Bachelor or Master) in a related study: Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related field.
- Curious, eager to learn, and able to take on responsibility.
- Strong self-reflection and follow-up; ability to propose creative improvements.
- Fluent in English.
- Mandatory enrolment at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders) for the duration of the internship.
