At the heart of ClickHouse Cloud is a Kubernetes operator that manages thousands of databases across multiple clouds, regions, and Kubernetes clusters. The operator provisions ClickHouse clusters, manages users and permissions, configuration, backups, upgrades and more. As part of the Data Plane team you will evolve this critical component, designing and implementing features to support scale and complexity while keeping the operator robust, testable, and maintainable.

Responsibilities
- Work deep inside Kubernetes to design and develop new features and improvements for the clickhouse-operator
- Collaborate closely with the autoscaling team and the core team to integrate new features into the operator
- Educate and support other teams so they can contribute to the operator codebase
- Participate in the on-call rotation and investigate issues in ClickHouse Cloud production environments
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
- Software development experience in Go
- Experience developing Kubernetes operators
- Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience leading and shipping large-scope technical projects in collaboration with other engineers
- Strong production debugging skills and experience investigating incidents (on-call experience)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across engineering teams
- High level of responsibility, ownership, and accountability
- Experience with ClickHouse is preferred
Compensation
The typical starting salary for this role in the United States is $125,600 - $185,500 USD. For certain premium US markets (e.g., Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, New York City Metro) a premium market range may apply: $157,000 - $232,000 USD. Actual compensation depends on factors such as experience, location, and qualifications.
