Airbnb’s Design team is seeking a Lead Experience Designer to shape the future of the payments platform and the guest and Host communities who process close to a billion dollars every day. This is an individual contributor (IC) role reporting to a Design Manager and will influence global products across 63 currencies and 220 countries/markets. You will work on end-to-end user experiences that simplify complex financial information using systems thinking, AI, data visualization, and design systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects and initiatives: define strategy, objectives, and set the vision for the user experience across platforms and devices.
  • Oversee multiple streams of work from insight and strategy through launch.
  • Inspire and direct teams to build toward a meaningful vision efficiently while advancing craft and maintaining consistency across products and platforms.
  • Define and evangelize Airbnb's design language system throughout the organization.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship for Experience Designers through interaction, visual, and service design of products and services for a global audience.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Researchers, and UX Writers to define problems and goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch new products and services.
  • Apply systems thinking to design for complex, data-heavy financial experiences that scale globally.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with end-to-end product design.
  • Ability to articulate the design process and lead others through it; accurately scope work for self and teammates.
  • Experience motivating and driving small to medium teams to transform a product.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent visual, interaction, and/or service design skills.
  • Systems-thinker able to design beyond pixels and for offline experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and set vision and strategy for global products.
