Perplexity is looking for a Localization Manager to lead and scale localization efforts across the company, ensuring products and content resonate with users globally. This role reports into the Product org and will manage translations across platforms (mobile, desktop) and public-facing communications, combining AI-powered translation workflows with human review to balance speed, quality, and cost.
Responsibilities
- Shape and drive Perplexity’s localization strategy.
- Experiment with and scale AI-powered translation, mixing automation with expert human reviewers to balance speed, quality, and cost.
- Build strong relationships with vendors and linguists; onboard and manage partners in priority markets.
- Oversee linguistic quality checks to ensure translations meet quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and streamline localization processes and technical/workflow roadblocks so localized features work globally.
- Collaborate with GTM, Product Ops, Partnerships, Legal, and local teams to prioritize languages, align on launch timing, and ensure the right surfaces are localized for the right audiences.
- Maintain and organize glossaries and style guides to support product and marketing teams during global expansion.
Requirements
- 3+ years managing localization for marketing, product, and cross-team projects—ideally at a tech company with global reach.
- Hands-on experience with localization tools and systems (TMS, CMS, connectors, APIs).
- Experience testing or rolling out AI/ML translation workflows with human quality checks.
- Comfortable collaborating with diverse teams (marketing, product, engineering, legal, customer success) to launch globally.
- Experience working with vendors and linguists, including sourcing talent for priority markets.
- Strong communication and project management skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
- Comfortable digging into data and using insights to inform decisions.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with internationalization standards such as Unicode and CLDR.
- Exposure to SQL or analytics tools.
- Familiarity with low-code tools.
Compensation
- Cash compensation range: $180,000 - $250,000 (final offer varies by experience and expertise).
- Equity: In addition to base salary, equity may be part of the total compensation package.
