Machine Learning Engineer Intern

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. We are building an onchain platform and the future global financial system. This is a 12-week internship during summer 2026. The team focuses on developing scalable, adaptive, blockchain-aware ML systems to improve platform security, provide personalized recommendations, and enhance user experience.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on develop, deploy, and operate machine learning models and pipelines at scale.
• Drive research projects applying cutting-edge ML technology to solve real-world problems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product partners to identify and solve new use cases for ML on blockchain.
• Participate in team and company-wide offsites and in-person activities as required (Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year).

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. with research experience in machine learning.
• Solid software engineering skills.
• Experience coding on ML platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with basic ML techniques (e.g., supervised and unsupervised learning).
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.

Nice to haves

• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with on-chain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
• Interest in DNNs, GANs, GNNs, and time series modeling.

Pay & Logistics

• This is a 12-week summer 2026 internship (Job #: GETR00ML26).
• Pay Range (target annual salary listed): $60—$60 USD.
• Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
