Airbnb was born in 2007 and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that help guests connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join

Localization at Airbnb has evolved from managing translation services to driving international growth. • Provide localization consultancy and advocacy; influence product, design and content teams to deliver the best possible user experience.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders in the market to gather cultural insights and influence product changes.
  • Understand localization process challenges and lead language quality improvement initiatives at the language and team level.
  • Own strategy to achieve excellence in translation quality across all platforms.
  • Partner with translation and QA vendors to monitor and improve quality output for Mexican Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Coordinate language feedback from users and Airbnb employees and maintain linguistic and cultural standards and guidelines.
  • Help with copywriting for content marketing initiatives when needed.
  • Work with Localization Program Managers and Linguistic QA Managers to ensure high-quality international shipping.
  • Partner closely with the Language Lead to train vendor resources for optimized linguistic output.

Requirements / Your Expertise

  • 8+ years of experience managing language quality and localization programs at a strategic level.
  • 1+ years of direct people management experience; experience managing international direct reports is a plus.
  • Native/bilingual fluency in Spanish (Mexican) and English (required).
  • Proven experience in translation, localization and language quality management.
  • Passion for translations, languages and delivering native experiences across platforms.
  • Experience using online translation software and familiarity with machine translation/Translation Engine concepts.
  • Experience in project/program management, partner/vendor management and stakeholder management across cross-functional teams and time zones.
