This is an exciting opportunity to be an early member of our new Observability Architecture team–a technically elite team redefining the Customer Solution Engineer role in the industry. As Manager of Observability Architects at Grafana Labs, you will lead the evolution of this practice to meet customer demands. The team will serve as in-house, customer-facing solution experts, owning platform onboarding, adoption, and expansion for Grafana customers, ensuring they realize genuine value.
Responsibilities
- Attract, recruit, ramp, and mentor a diverse team of Observability Architects.
- Collaborate with the Engagement Management team to define and execute customer lifecycle frameworks.
- Lead with a servant-based leadership approach, balancing field responsibilities and team needs.
- Responsible for team retention and expansion.
- Own planning, actions, and outcomes of the region based on leadership guidance.
- Partner with US Sales leadership on customer programs, marketing initiatives, and community events.
- Act as a thought leader internally and with key accounts.
- Understand and contribute to customers' strategies for Grafana technology adoption.
- Ensure customer requirements are met via partnership with Product Management and Engineering.
- Report on team’s quarterly activities, supporting prospects through demos, technical deep dives, trials, and POVs.
- Educate users on leveraging the Grafana stack.
- Assist in building/modifying critical SLA dashboards.
- Collaborate closely with sales to articulate Grafana's value proposition.
- Provide feedback to internal teams based on customer insights and competitive landscape.
- Enhance documentation, create blog posts, videos, knowledge base articles, and internal/public enablement material.
Requirements
- 3+ years leading teams; 5+ years in high tech roles such as TAM Manager, SE Manager, Developer, Sales Engineer/Architect, or Manager.
- Experience mentoring, developing people, and managing performance.
- Experience with Open Source selling or cloud-first/product-led sales is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of Grafana platform operational expertise (LGTM) and/or competing observability products.
- Experience selling monitoring, data, or visualization products.
- Creative problem solver for customer adoption challenges.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and providing timely solutions.
- Extensive Grafana deployment design expertise.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for remote and global collaboration.
- Passion for solving technical challenges and delivering creative solutions.
Benefits
- OTE range in the UK: £121,000 - £152,000 (actual compensation varies based on experience and skills).
