Role overview

This is more than just a management role—it’s a chance to shape a brand-new function at the forefront of the observability space. As the Manager of Observability Architects you will be a founding leader of a technically elite team responsible for onboarding, adoption, expansion, and technical success for Grafana’s most strategic customers. You will influence product direction, build best-in-class processes and collateral, and lead a practice that sets a new industry standard.

Responsibilities

  • Attract, recruit, ramp, and mentor a team of Observability Architects from diverse backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with Engagement Management to define and execute impactful customer lifecycle frameworks.
  • Adopt a servant-based, player/coach leadership approach balancing field work with team development.
  • Own retention and expansion goals for the region and report on quarter-over-quarter team outcomes.
  • Partner with Sales leadership on customer programs, marketing initiatives, and events to drive adoption and expansion.
  • Provide executive sponsorship for key accounts and act as a thought leader internally and externally.
  • Understand and contribute to customers’ strategies for adopting Grafana technologies; develop enabling programs and collateral.
  • Ensure customer requirements are represented to Product Management and Engineering.
  • Support prospects through demonstrations, technical deep dives, trials and POVs.
  • Educate and enable viewers, editors, and architects on leveraging the Grafana stack.
  • Assist with building/modifying critical SLA dashboards in production environments.
  • Work with sales to articulate Grafana’s value proposition, vision, and strategy.
  • Communicate proactively with customers and internal teams to feed product and competitive insights.
  • Produce and enhance documentation, blog posts, videos, knowledge base articles and other enablement materials.

Requirements

  • 3+ years leading a team and 5+ years in the high-tech industry in roles such as TAM Manager, SE Manager, Developer, Sales Engineer/Architect, Manager, etc.
  • Direct experience mentoring, developing people, and managing performance over time.
  • Deep knowledge of the operational aspects of the Grafana platform (LGTM) and/or competing observability products.
  • Direct experience selling monitoring, data, or visualization products.
  • Extensive Grafana deployment design expertise.
  • Experience in Open Source selling or cloud-first / product-led sales motions is a strong plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for collaborating with remote teams and articulating technical value to customers.
  • Creative problem solving for customer adoption challenges and hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Compensation

  • In the UK, the OTE range for this role is £121,000 - £152,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process.
  • All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) as part of compensation.
