Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. The Marketing Insights & Analytics team aims to understand markets, audiences, behaviors, attitudes, and needs to shape outreach strategies and inform product and business decisions. The team is a strategic partner that discovers insights across foundational understanding, marketing strategy, thought leadership, measurement, and tracking.

About the role

You will be the Market Research Lead who translates insights into actionable marketing plans and executions, drives business results, and orients the team toward strategic thinking to drive brand outcomes. This role supports efforts to reach millions of users and businesses worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic partner within Marketing and across brand, product marketing, creative, product, and other teams.
  • Design, execute, and deliver high-impact research using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Translate business questions into structured research plans and frameworks.
  • Synthesize data into clear, compelling narratives that influence decision making and stakeholders.
  • Work on a diverse portfolio of business challenges including international expansion, brand evolution, positioning, and campaign development.
  • Manage relationships with agencies or vendors to achieve research outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data analysis and mixed-method user or market research.
  • Proven ability to independently conduct full-cycle research from design to reporting.
  • Strong background in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Hands-on experience developing surveys and discussion guides.
  • Experience with data tasks such as weighting, data cleaning, and regression analysis.
  • Experience managing agencies or vendors.
  • Track record of leveraging multiple data sources to influence executives and stakeholders.
  • Experience in product or go-to-market (GTM) strategy research, brand research, campaign development, and tracking.
  • Proficiency with tools such as SPSS or R, and experience with survey programming platforms.
  • Experience conducting global research studies; experience with behavioral data is a plus.
