ABN AMRO Clearing IT is a global organization managing projects, applications and hosting via its own data centers worldwide. The IT operations are spread across Europe, the US, and APAC regions, ensuring alignment with business strategy and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability and performance of the Clearing database environment (non-production, production, disaster recovery).
  • Collaborate with support teams to optimize hardware resources.
  • Proactively monitor systems, minimize downtime, and conduct trend analysis for capacity planning.
  • Manage enhancements, maintenance, and upgrades; liaise with business, architecture, development, and technical teams.
  • Act as escalation point and document resolutions.
  • Automate tasks to reduce manual interventions and optimize performance.
  • Maintain system documentation and ensure change approvals.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks for High Availability and Disaster Recovery tests.
  • Provide database expertise to the development team and keep updated on emerging technologies.
  • Work within DB Services team managing Oracle, Postgres, and MS-SQL databases including administration, configuration, installation, maintenance, tuning, and support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in database administration.
  • Expert knowledge of Postgres Enterprise and/or Community editions.
  • Experience with Red Hat Cluster and PostgreSQL logical and physical replication.
  • Skills in Postgres installation, patching, upgrading (preferably automated).
  • Capacity planning and automation mindset.
  • Experience with global monitoring solutions installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Postgres Partitioning and Foreign Data Wrappers is a plus.
  • Strong performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup and recovery skills.
  • Linux and network expertise; familiarity with cluster file systems (ACFS/NFS/GPFS), firewalls, networking protocols.
  • Ability to diagnose OS-level Linux problems; experience with bash/awk/sed scripting.
  • Experience with Oracle and Engineered Systems including Exadata and ODA machine administration as well as OEM tools, patching, upgrades, and migration.
  • Strong automation skills and good SQL knowledge.
