This Trading Risk Management (TRM) internship provides hands-on exposure to market risk management, product control activities of trading books, and asset/liability management control activities. You will learn to report and analyze daily market risk reports and reconcile and report daily trading and funding P&L. You will be introduced to and develop working knowledge of front-office trading and finance systems and contribute to special projects related to your field of study.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and analyzing daily market risk reports (VaR, sensitivities, and other risk controls).
- Reconcile and report daily trading and funding P&L.
- Learn and use various systems to report daily risk and P&L (systems may include Sophis, MUREX, Summit, and PeopleSoft).
- Support special project work related to market risk, P&L reconciliation, and reporting efficiency initiatives.
- Contribute to streamlining reporting and reconciliation processes.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate students studying business, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, engineering, or related fields. Liberal arts majors interested in finance and banking are welcome to apply.
- Comfortable with Excel and spreadsheets.
- Working knowledge of one or more of: Microsoft Excel, VBA, Access, SQL, SAS, Python.
- Solid understanding of financial analysis / econometrics.
- Must be hardworking and detail-oriented.
- Strong multi-tasking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of performance motivation and eagerness to learn.
- Team player able to work collaboratively.
- Good quantitative and analytical skills; basic understanding of financial instruments preferred though not required.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Availability for approximately 2-3 days (~20 hours) in-office work preferred, with option to work 1-2 days from home.
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $35 per hour
- Internship period: Start Date: January–June 2026
