About the Team
OpenAI’s People team aims to hire, engage, and retain world-class talent who will safely build and deploy universally beneficial Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The People Systems team is an important subset of the People Operations team and is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing our HR technology to support a rapidly growing employee population.
Role summary
We are hiring a proactive and detail-oriented People Systems Analyst to configure, maintain, and optimize our core People system (Workday) and the broader HR systems landscape. This role will serve as the primary owner of Absence in Workday, responsible for plan design, country-specific configuration, compliance alignment, and operational support. The role requires strong analytical skills, project management capability, user training and support, and cross-functional collaboration with People Ops and Finance.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of HR systems: configuration, security and audits, reports management, mass data requests, tenant management, and compliance.
- Program management: governance/change control and special projects (e.g., M&A, country/entity expansions).
- Optimization: analytics & dashboards, enhancements and new capabilities, improving end-user experience.
- Change management: employee training and communications.
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting for absence-related configuration and interactions with adjacent domains (Benefits, Payroll, Compensation).
Requirements
Required (non-negotiable)
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Workday Absence, including plan configuration, accruals, eligibility, country-specific rules, and ongoing operational support.
Strongly preferred (one or more)
- Benefits: plan configuration, vendor coordination, open enrollment support.
- Payroll: understanding of downstream impacts, audits, reconciliation, and compliance awareness.
- Compensation: foundational understanding of plans, eligibility, and interactions with absence and payroll.
- Experience supporting global growth, new country launches, or policy redesigns.
- Technical expertise in configuring and customizing Workday, including creating reports, dashboards, and simple integrations.
- Project management experience managing HR technology-enabled projects and implementations.
- Problem-solving ability to troubleshoot HR systems configuration, security, and data integrity issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with HR stakeholders, IT, Finance, and end-users.
- Experience providing training and support to end-users, including creating user guides and conducting training sessions.
- Familiarity managing or integrating with other HR or business systems.
