A customer-facing technical role focused on bridging the gap between qualified prospects' needs and the Customer.io product. The Solutions Architect will support sales in closing premium deals, deliver technical answers and custom integration solutions, and create collateral and demos to help prospective customers evaluate and adopt Customer.io.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Account Executives with technical pre-sales calls, emails, and thought leadership
  • Build and document proofs of concept in the Customer.io platform for customer use cases
  • Articulate and present technical ideas and recommendations to prospective customers via written and video formats
  • Work with Customer Success to ensure a smooth transition from pre- to post-sale on behalf of the customer
  • Contribute to improvements of Sales-owned demo account(s) to align with the sales team's strategic objectives
  • Create collateral, documentation, and other technical sales materials as needed
  • Spend ~75% of time working on deals and ~25% creating collateral and documentation

Requirements

  • Baseline: 2+ years of experience in roles requiring technical expertise, customer interaction, and problem-solving
  • Open to backgrounds including sales with technical aptitude, marketing automation experience (preferably SaaS), or a hybrid of both
  • Availability to support typical working hours around 8 AM to 5 PM EST (GMT-5)
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences (verbal and written)
  • Initiative to research, plan, and execute projects from start to completion
  • Thoughtful, empathetic strategic decision-making and an understanding of sales processes and strategy
  • Experience working for a SaaS company or with a marketing automation platform
  • Basic understanding of Computer Science principles
  • Familiarity with NoSQL data structures and RESTful applications/APIs
  • Experience with templating languages such as Liquid, Handlebars, or Jinja
