As a Principal Applied Research Scientist, Quantum Supercomputing, you will work with cross-functional teams in Product, Engineering and Research to develop innovative technologies and incorporate NVIDIA products in areas such as AI methods for quantum, noise-accurate digital twins of quantum systems, and advanced simulation techniques. The Quantum organization is a small, strong, and visible group both inside and outside of NVIDIA while Quantum Information Science is an exciting area to advance the state of the art.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead technical collaborations with SCCs on hybrid quantum-classical application development across multiple industry verticals.
  • Oversee and drive the execution of technical deliverables for projects involving key SCC partnerships, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer success.
  • Publish research works and speak at relevant scientific, technical, and industry conferences.
  • Represent NVIDIA in Quantum Computing technical consortia and committees.
  • Contribute to NVIDIA’s revenue stream through strategic technical engagement and the development of innovative solutions that support customer adoption and long-term partnerships.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of applied quantum computing and scientific computing research or work experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical partnerships with SCCs (supercomputing centers).
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and C++, and experience with a parallel programming model (e.g., CUDA).
  • World-class communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate a value proposition to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A track record of research excellence demonstrated in publications at leading conferences and journals.

  • Recognized thought-leadership at the intersection of quantum applied research and high-performance computing.
  • Experience with the NVIDIA Quantum platform (cuQuantum or CUDA Quantum).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: 232,000 USD - 368,000 USD (determined based on location, experience, and internal pay equity).
  • Eligible for equity and company benefits.
