NVIDIA is looking for a system software architect to join the GPU Software team. You will play a key role in the design and evolution of the core kernel driver for GPUs, spanning supercomputers down to consumer graphics. You will help the team address new business opportunities such as GPUs in the data center — solving unique challenges requiring novel software and hardware designs, while also helping us build on our industry leading solutions in traditional markets such as gaming.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to transform a driver with the scale of some operating systems into a design with reduced complexity, improved organization, and security posture.
 - Take responsibility for developing a layered architecture with components spanning across a Guest VM, Host Kernel Driver and Firmware.
 - Define strategic vision for the core GPU driver together with adjacent software and hardware architects.

Requirements
- Expert level knowledge and experience in system software design and operating system fundamentals.
 - Deep understanding of computer architecture and microprocessor concepts (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.).
 - Proven leadership skills and strong ownership on past projects in environments with complex software and hardware designs.
 - Clear verbal and written communication with the proven ability to build consensus within a large organization.
 - Exceptional C programming and low-level driver experience; strong background in complex system-level debugging, performance analysis and test design.
 - Familiarity with kernel-level security concepts, including threat modeling techniques and tooling for static and dynamic analysis.
 - Kernel development experience with Linux, Android, Chrome, or Windows systems.
 - BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree (or equivalent experience).
 - 15+ years of relevant software development experience.

Ways to stand out
- Experience as a maintainer or significant contributor to large open source software projects.
 - In-depth knowledge of state of the art on system level security and demonstrated involvement with the community at large.
 - Experience applying formal modeling for security analysis involving complex systems.
 - Knowledge of virtualization platforms (XenServer, KVM, Hyper-V).
 - Experience with embedded system software concepts, e.g.: RTOS and overlay programming models.

Benefits & Compensation
Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 248,000 USD - 391,000 USD. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits (see NVIDIA benefits page).
