Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

As we continue to expand our product suite and global presence, we are looking for an insightful and analytical individual to be the financial and strategic partner to the product teams focused on building Stripe’s growing suite of Payments products. This is an opportunity to contribute to the long-term growth potential of Stripe’s Payment products. Your work will be highly visible to Stripe leadership, and will drive key insights and decisions for product teams and executive discussions. The ideal candidate is a self starter, strategic thinking, excellent communicator, and thrives in a fast paced environment.

What you’ll do

You will partner directly with our Product and GTM teams by playing a pivotal role in guiding Payments deal evaluation strategies and driving deep understanding of user costs and revenue performance across large customer segments. As a trusted advisor, you will use financial insights to shape deal investments, improve pricing modeling and optimize our approach to deal structuring. Your work will support Stripe's ambitious global and product expansion and help accelerate growth in Payment products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement deal assessment strategies to improve profitability for large-scale or non-standard user agreements.
  • Perform financial analysis and modeling to assess various cost drivers, operating expenses based on user level attributes/ technical considerations and recommend strategies/scenarios that improve the profitability.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to provide financial expertise and guidance on pricing decisions during deal negotiations.
  • Communicate complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences, creating narratives that drive understanding, decision-making and results.
  • Analyze product usage patterns and cost drivers, forecasting how various factors impact profitability across different money management and customer segments.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models and cost analyses for diverse product portfolios, providing critical insights in a fast-paced environment.
  • Define, design and implement end to end process and reporting that will create a scalable user level profitability modeling.
  • Be a thought leader to understand and guide the team on appropriate use of different cost/profitability frameworks for evaluation (e.g. marginal, prospective).
  • Create reports on pricing metrics, profitability, and market trends for senior leadership.

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience within strategic finance, ideally at a high-growth technology company. Investment banking, management consulting, and/or private equity experience will also be considered.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and business acumen, with the ability to simplify and distill complex data in a rigorous but consumable way.
  • A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners; you are seen as a trusted and objective advisor.
  • An enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality to go deep into business analysis and understand details while managing Exec-level communication.
  • Adept at navigating ambiguity and thriving in unstructured, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SQL or a willingness to learn is a must.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of the fintech industry and landscape, ideally with experience in financial services.
  • Experience in deal pricing and commercial agreements.
  • Experience working with Sales and/or Product Functions.

Hybrid work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location (typically, 35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).

Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

A remote location, in most cases, is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently or plan to live.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $183,200 - $274,800. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.

We look forward to hearing from you

At Stripe, we're looking for people with passion, grit, and integrity. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns. At Stripe, we welcome diverse perspectives and people who think rigorously and aren't afraid to challenge assumptions. Join us.
