Team

Our Legal Department is a dynamic team of professionals covering the full range of challenges that come with building and scaling global software products, from data and intellectual property protection to regulatory compliance, contracts, policy development, and dispute resolution. As true business partners, we meet our stakeholders where they are, helping them navigate legal risks and enable innovation as they design, launch, and evolve our products.

Role Overview

As a Product Legal Counsel, you will be providing legal support to some of Nord Security’s flagship products, including NordVPN. You will report to the Lead Product Legal Counsel and will be part of the Product & Engineering Legal Team.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong understanding of product functionalities and act as a trusted partner to product teams, providing pragmatic, risk-based legal advice on data protection, privacy, and broader technology law matters.
  • Support the development and launch of new product features by identifying applicable regulations, ensuring compliance, reviewing user interface designs and data flows, recommending mitigations for legal risks, and proposing updates to terms of service and privacy documentation.
  • Negotiate agreements with key technology partners supporting core product functionalities.
  • Handle product-related disputes and claims in collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about app store updates, market developments, and case law, and communicate significant regulatory changes, risks, and opportunities to product teams.
  • Act as a liaison between product teams and the Legal Department, developing efficient processes to streamline cooperation and reduce routine legal involvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Law.
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience, including in-house exposure; experience in the tech sector is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in privacy and data protection laws, with a good understanding or readiness to develop expertise in digital and cybersecurity regulations (e.g., DSA, DMA, CRA, NIS2, Online Safety frameworks).
  • Experience in reviewing and negotiating commercial and technology-related contracts.
  • Additional experience in consumer protection, electronic communications, intellectual property, or AI regulation is an advantage.
  • Excellent judgment and practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance legal risks against business needs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly, build trust-based relationships, and foster effective collaboration between legal and product teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Genuine interest in technology and innovation, with curiosity to understand how digital products work.
