About the Team

The Private Computing and Encryption teams work across product, engineering, security, and safety to build advanced privacy products and infrastructure at OpenAI. The mission is to provide world-class security features so user private data remains private, even from OpenAI. The teams use technologies like confidential computing, trusted execution environments, and end-to-end encryption to ship product features across ChatGPT, the API, and future consumer devices.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, technical product manager to shape privacy strategy and deliver advanced encryption-based privacy features at rapid speed across ChatGPT, the API, and future consumer devices.

Responsibilities

  • Shape company strategy and set the industry standard on AI privacy.
  • Deliver novel encryption-based privacy features across ChatGPT, API, and future consumer devices.
  • Work closely with researchers, engineers, and security experts to build core privacy technologies such as private inference and end-to-end encryption.
  • Collaborate with safety, integrity, and legal teams to develop privacy-preserving safety features and balance trade-offs.
  • Partner with industry partners including cloud providers, GPU manufacturers, and security researchers.
  • Partner with leadership, marketing, and global affairs to communicate OpenAI's privacy values to customers, industry professionals, and policymakers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management or related industry experience.
  • Prior experience in private computing, trusted execution environments, and end-to-end encryption.
  • Deep care for user privacy and security.
  • Strong product intuition, strategic mindset, and ability to prioritize and sequence work effectively.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional work with engineering, research, security, safety, legal, and external partners.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and adaptability, from startup or high-growth company environments.

Workplace & Location

  • This role is based in San Francisco, CA.
  • Hybrid work model: 3 days in the office per week.
  • Relocation assistance is offered to new employees.
