The NVIDIA Math Libraries team is seeking interns in quantum computing software development. The team extends NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform with the cuQuantum SDK to help researchers and framework builders in Quantum Computing (QC) tackle larger problems faster.
During this internship you will work closely with engineering and research teams across NVIDIA to help design, develop, and optimize software to accelerate different elements of QC workflows. Ideal candidates will have a curiosity about developing proof-of-concept implementations quickly and a willingness to iterate on those. NVIDIA offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package for interns.
Responsibilities
- Assist with software engineering activities around proof-of-concept development of creative and innovative algorithms.
- Collaborate with team members and specialists from other teams to understand software use cases and requirements.
- Help productize new functionality through design, development, debugging, testing, and documentation under the mentorship of senior engineers on your team.
- Analyze the performance of GPU or CPU implementations and find opportunities for algorithmic or implementation improvements.
- Present your results and findings throughout your internship.
Requirements
- Pursuing a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, or other related science or engineering field.
- Experience with quantum algorithms, programming systems, or hybrid classical/quantum computations.
- Strong software development skills with C++ and Python.
- Strong fundamentals in algorithms and numerical methods, particularly linear algebra.
- Good teamwork, communication, and documentation skills.
Ways to stand out
- Experience with Tensor Networks, State Vector methods, or Quantum Error Correction for quantum circuit simulations.
- Parallel programming experience using multi-threading.
- CUDA C++ programming experience.
Compensation & other details
- Internship hourly rate: 20 USD - 71 USD (rate depends on position, location, year in school, degree, and experience).
- Eligible for NVIDIA intern benefits: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/benefits/interns/
- Applications accepted at least until January 16, 2026.
- NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes and is an equal opportunity employer.
