We are recruiting Research Scientists for Autonomous Vehicle research to work on foundational and applied problems in vehicle autonomy. The group focuses on agent behavior models, end-to-end AV architectures, AI safety, closed-loop training approaches, and AV foundation models (VLMs, reasoning models). Lab members are encouraged to publish research, open-source code, and transfer developed technology into production systems. Researchers will collaborate with experts across perception, machine learning, and robotics within NVIDIA.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement cutting-edge techniques in the field of vehicle autonomy.
- Publish original research in top conferences and journals.
- Collaborate with other research team members, internal product teams, and external researchers.
- Transfer developed technology to relevant product groups.
Requirements
- Completing or recently completed a PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant research experience in vehicle/robot autonomy.
- Strong knowledge of theory and practice of vehicle/robot autonomy, or a related area with a strong interest in applying work to autonomous vehicles.
- A track record of research excellence with publications in top conferences and journals (examples listed: RSS, ICRA, IJRR, NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, TAC) and other research artifacts such as software projects.
- Exceptional programming skills in Python; C++ and parallel programming (e.g., CUDA) are a plus.
- Knowledge of common machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, research-focused team.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: 160,000 USD - 258,750 USD (final base salary determined by location, experience, and pay of employees in similar positions).
