SCADA Engineer

Details

You will join Eneco's SCADA engineering team to support the integration and operation of renewable-energy assets and grid-stabilization solutions in a mixed IT/OT/IoT landscape. The role focuses on ensuring a reliable, predictable control chain from design through commissioning, and on implementing and maintaining SCADA, PLC/RTU and integration solutions in mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Specify and map monitoring and control needs for chain-related processes and applications (use cases).
• Translate requirements into clear functional and non-functional specifications.
• Develop design and test specifications (user stories).
• Contribute to engineering activities for integrations and PLC/RTU level SCADA functions.
• Be involved in the entire project lifecycle: design, configuration, implementation, testing, and commissioning in the field.
• Daily maintenance and management of the SCADA environment and its interfaces/connections.
• Implement changes and new features in applications and interfaces/connections.
• Propose and implement technical solutions in new projects to unlock data from new assets.
• Participate in a 24/7 standby shift to ensure continuous availability of operations.

Requirements

• Experience with PLC/SCADA systems and associated interfaces (experience with PLC/RTU integrations and SCADA functions is expected).
• Familiarity with protocols and platforms such as IEC 60870-5-101/104, Modbus TCP, OPC DA/UA; experience with SAT SCALA 250 and Iconics SCADA is a plus.
• Proven experience working in mission-critical environments.
• Possession of a valid VCA basic certificate and willingness to work on-call shifts.
• A valid driving license (B).
• Good command of Dutch is not required but is beneficial.

Where you’ll work

You will work within the Business Capability Assets Team in the Tech Department. The team has ~30 colleagues including Edge Engineering, Network, IoT and SCADA-OT/Assets specialists. You will collaborate daily with the department, the Product Manager, external stakeholders and suppliers.
