The Security Operations Team defends Coinbase against sophisticated attackers to protect digital assets and ensure a safe experience for customers and employees. As Coinbase scales globally, the team scales using tooling, automation, and strategic growth to protect the next billion users of crypto.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the dedicated Trust & Safety (T&S) expert for Institutional teams, providing guidance on product development, feature rollouts, and operational readiness to embed security into institutional offerings.
- Build and own the operational security framework for institutional clients, including identity verification, security protocols, and account recovery workflows.
- Act as the primary T&S point of contact and investigation lead for institutional-related security incidents; coordinate incident response with internal teams (Institutional, Engineering, Legal) and manage partner communications.
- Gain and maintain expert-level knowledge of institutional-specific tools and systems; work with technical teams to define requirements and ensure access and capabilities for effective monitoring and investigation.
- Continuously improve tooling and processes to enhance monitoring, investigation, and overall operational security.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining operational policies and procedures for institutional account security.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, Risk Management, Fraud Prevention, or a related operational field, with a proven track record of handling complex investigations.
- Strong incident response and operational ownership skills; capable of leading investigations and driving resolution with urgency and precision.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to translate complex security concepts into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical partners.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes and policies from the ground up; an operator mindset with high ownership.
Nice to Haves
- Prior experience working with institutional, corporate, or B2B clients in financial services or technology.
- Experience with SQL or other data analysis tools to support investigations.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and associated risks.
- Formal training in project management or process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
Pay and Benefits
- Target annual salary (full-time): β¬108,753 β β¬108,753 EUR.
- Full-time offers include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).

- Many Coinbase roles are remote-first but not remote-only; in-person participation is required throughout the year (team and company offsites multiple times annually). Attendance is expected and supported.
