About proficiency levels:
- 1-2 — basic awareness. Minimal hands-on experience, and a rudimentary understanding of the technology's purpose;
- 3-6 — daily use. Comfortable and regular usage, capable of handling common tasks and challenges related to the technology;
- 7-9 — you are an expert, you can teach others, you know all the pitfalls and tricks;
- 10 — exceptional knowledge, comprehensive understanding, and adeptness in all aspects of the technology, including advanced problem-solving. Think twice before claiming or demanding such level.

Details
Bloomberg's Engineering AI department builds AI-driven products and features using technologies such as transformers, gradient boosted decision trees, large language models, and dense vector databases. The team develops GenAI-native platform experiences for agentic UI interaction models, streaming and structured outputs, and developer workflows across the agent development lifecycle (ADLC). This role sits at the intersection of frontend engineering, platform infrastructure, and AI systems and focuses on designing and building systems, APIs, and interfaces that enable engineers to build, operate, and interact with LLMs, agents, and AI-driven workflows at scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and evolve interaction systems for GenAI platforms, including APIs, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers, and UI frameworks.
- Explore patterns for agent-to-UI (A2UI), MCP-powered applications, and human-in-the-loop interaction models.
- Work closely with GenAI platform and application teams to understand workflows, identify inefficiencies, and shape next-generation platform capabilities.
- Improve observability, debuggability, and reliability of GenAI systems by building shared tooling, interfaces, and platform capabilities used across teams.
- Drive performance, scalability, and usability improvements across platform experiences.
- Contribute to and collaborate with open-source and internal GenAI ecosystems, including technologies like MCP.
Requirements
- Proven experience building modern web and platform systems using Node.js, React, TypeScript, Vite, or similar technologies.
- Experience with modern frontend tooling such as Tailwind and Playwright (or equivalent).
- Experience designing and building Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) APIs, developer platforms, design systems, or component libraries.
- Experience with or strong interest in agent-based systems (A2A, A2UI), MCP apps, and building AI-native interaction workflows.
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, and API architecture.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Collaborative and honest approach to problem-solving.
