Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. This role sits on the Analytics Engineering team, which bridges data engineering, data science, and business analytics by building scalable, reliable data solutions. The team transforms raw data into actionable insights through robust pipelines, well-designed data models, and tools that empower stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain foundational, reusable data models that serve as single sources of truth for analytics across the organization.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data models, dashboards, and tools that deliver measurable commercial value.
  • Own end-to-end understanding of data flows: creation, ingestion, transformation, and delivery. Take initiative to fix issues anywhere in the stack.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, data science, product, and business teams to align on priorities and deliver data products that maximize stakeholder value.
  • Deliver outcome-focused solutions using appropriate frameworks and tools (e.g., UDFs, Python packages, dashboards). Balance speed and long-term maintainability.
  • Build frameworks, tools, and workflows to increase efficiency for data users and support scalable data workflows and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Data modeling expertise: strong understanding of best practices for modular, reusable data models (star schemas, snowflake schemas).
  • Prompt design and engineering for LLMs (e.g., GPT): experience creating, refining, and optimizing prompts for internal tools and use cases.
  • Advanced SQL: proficiency in advanced SQL techniques for transformation, querying, and optimization.
  • Intermediate to advanced Python: scripting, automation, object-oriented programming, and building scalable frameworks and packages.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines using modern tools such as dbt, Airflow, or similar technologies.
  • Experience building polished visualizations and dashboards using Looker, Tableau, Superset, or Python visualization libraries (Matplotlib, Plotly).
  • Familiarity with development tooling and workflows: GitHub, CI/CD, version control.
  • Knowledge of modern data lake/warehouse architectures and transformation frameworks (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with statistics and probability and the ability to apply analytics to business problems.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts into business value and manage cross-functional projects.

Bonus / nice-to-have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Familiarity with Docker or Kubernetes.

Benefits

  • Full-time offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
  • Extended health care, dental, vision, life & accident insurance, disability coverage.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), wellness and connections stipends, mobile/internet reimbursement.
  • Learning and development allowance, employee assistance program, fertility benefits, generous time off/leave policy.
