Information about the position

We are growing our Trust domain and seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Autobahn team. As a foundational Trust team at Vinted, we're developing crucial services to improve detection capabilities. This involves innovative solutions leveraging novel streaming technology.

As our new engineer, you will play a key role in driving technical initiatives, building new services, developing new features and maintaining existing ones. Your main aim will be preparing our product for the challenges ahead, ensuring our members are feeling safe on our platform, and contributing to the Vinted vision of making second-hand the first choice.

In this position, you’ll

• Develop a new detection service with Golang and Flink, integrating data engineering into the broader engineering function.
• Work in a cross-functional team and shape the features to make our members’ lives better.
• Lead team and domain-level initiatives contributing to a safer environment for our members.
• Transform large monoliths into smaller, component-based services, thereby promoting greater team autonomy.
• Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
• Provide mentorship and support to engineers to foster their professional development
• See your code affect 80+ million users almost instantly. Our master branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge. We deploy many times per day.
• Work with a healthy mix of battle tested and emerging technologies such as: Golang, Flink, Ruby, Vitess, Redis, Kafka, MySQL and many more.
• Craft the code which can handle more than 2M requests per minute.
• Utilize Kibana, Grafana, and other observability tools to monitor code effectiveness.

About you

• Hands-on working experience in development or operations at scale
• Curiosity-driven and eager to explore and master new technologies and concepts across backend and data engineering fields
• Enthusiastic about exploring and tackling complex challenges in engineering
• Committed to writing clean, maintainable code with a focus on accuracy and quality
• Strong inclination to collaborate with team members, share knowledge and foster a positive, cooperative environment
• Willingness to take the lead in addressing issues and driving improvements, even without explicit direction
• Proficient communicator in spoken and written English, comfortable collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
• Experience in Ruby, Golang, or Flink is a plus, though not required.

The salary range for this position is € 4,975 - € 8,842 gross per month.
