Protocol Security ensures security of all onchain development at Coinbase, partnering with product teams to enable safe user engagement within the onchain ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Develop onchain security strategies including security assessments and threat modeling of blockchain protocols.
• Proactively identify top onchain security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide expert technical guidance for building frameworks, analysis tools, and security products.
• Establish and promote security best practices across product and engineering teams.
• Coach and mentor Protocol Security team members to enhance skills and embrace crypto-forward approaches.
• Lead Protocol Security in adopting cutting-edge blockchain security technologies and setting industry standards.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of onchain ecosystems, including L1 and L2 networks, DeFi protocols, staking, etc.
• Expertise in identifying vulnerabilities at machine-level, transaction-level, and business logic-level in smart contracts and protocol infrastructure.
• 3+ years of smart contract auditing experience with leadership in audits of complex protocols.
• Energetic and self-driven continuous learner in the rapidly evolving crypto space.
• Passion for mentoring blockchain security engineers and openness to learning from the team.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience building productive relationships across security, product, and engineering teams.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term tactical planning.

Pay Transparency Notice: Target annual salary ranges from $186,065 to $256,500 USD depending on location. Full-time offers include target bonus, equity, and benefits.
