Sentry is on a mission to help developers write better software faster by building performance and error monitoring tools used by organizations like Disney, Microsoft, and Atlassian. The Business Intelligence team sits within Data & Analytics (part of Business Operations) and empowers teams across the company to make better decisions by ensuring data is consistent, accessible, and actionable. This role is a senior position focused on setting direction for scalable BI practices, revamping and streamlining the Looker instance, establishing governance processes, enabling self-service analytics, and partnering with teams on deeper analyses that drive impact. Sentry embraces a hybrid work model with in-office anchor days (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).
Responsibilities
- Develop deep expertise in the analytics tooling ecosystem, including Looker, Amplitude, and Hex, and define how these tools complement each other to deliver insights.
- Lead the direction of the analytics tooling landscape; establish governance and processes for long-term scalability and maintainability of BI.
- Partner closely with product and engineering teams to execute detailed analyses of product performance, identify trends and patterns, and drive product strategy.
- Work with the data engineering team on projects shaping the BI layer and scaling BI reporting.
- Partner with stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Engineering on ad hoc product and business analytics requests.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Business Intelligence, or similar roles.
- Experience owning and improving BI platform governance (for example, Looker) with focus on model ownership, reporting consolidation, and sustainable maintenance practices.
- Proven experience leading BI adoption and enablement initiatives (trainings, documentation, office hours) to drive cross-functional tool usage.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to drive data-informed product decisions and strategies.
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, including writing queries, database definition, and schema design.
- Expertise in principles of data visualization to simplify communication of complex data and drive insights.
- Ability to work independently, create structure in undefined areas, and lead initiatives across teams.
Benefits
- Base salary range: $160,000 to $180,000 (actual salary determined by factors including location, experience, skills, and education).
