The Cloud AutoScaling team is dedicated to implementing robust vertical and horizontal auto-scaling capabilities within the ClickHouse cloud environment. The team builds and maintains auto-scaling infrastructure to evolve ClickHouse into a fully functional server-less, cloud-native database solution, collaborating closely with core database and other cloud/data plane teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build a cutting-edge cloud-native platform on top of public cloud providers.
  • Improve the metrics pipeline and build algorithms to generate better autoscaling statistics and recommendations.
  • Work on the autoscale and Kubernetes operator to support seamless vertical and horizontal auto-scaling.
  • Collaborate closely with the ClickHouse core development team and other data plane teams to support auto-scaling use cases and internal infrastructure improvements.
  • Architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call rotation (PagerDuty) and debug production issues when needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
  • Experience building operators with Kubernetes and controller-runtime.
  • Production experience with programming languages like Go and C++.
  • Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their infrastructure-as-a-service offerings (e.g., EC2).
  • Experience with data storage, ingestion, and transformation tools (Spark, Kafka or similar).
  • Experience improving metrics pipelines and building autoscaling algorithms.
  • Comfortable debugging production issues and participating in on-call rotations (PagerDuty).
  • Experience with Python (listed: uv, rye, fastAPI) and data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy) is good to have.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well across engineering teams.
