Role overview

The Cloud AutoScaling team implements robust vertical and horizontal auto-scaling capabilities within the ClickHouse cloud environment. The team develops and maintains auto-scaling infrastructure to transform ClickHouse into a fully functional server-less database solution, working closely with the core database team and other cloud teams to improve cloud infrastructure performance and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Build a cutting-edge cloud-native platform on top of public cloud providers.
  • Work on distributed systems such as ClickHouse servers, keepers, and caches.
  • Improve systems to maximize performance for customers via auto-scaling.
  • Collaborate closely with the ClickHouse core development team and other data plane teams.
  • Architect and build robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
  • Proven experience writing business-critical, production-level distributed systems software in Go, C++, or similar languages such as Rust.
  • Skilled in benchmarking, testing, profiling, tuning, and scaling, with hands-on experience in low-level performance optimization for databases and cloud systems.
  • Experience building services and deploying them on Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

Compensation

  • Typical starting salary for this role in the US: $133,450 - $197,200 USD.
  • Typical starting salary for this role in US Premium Markets (Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle area, New York City Metro Area): $157,000 - $232,000 USD.
