We are looking for an experienced Senior Compiler Engineer with technical leadership experience for an exciting role in our Compute Compiler Team. The team delivers features and improvements to CUDA and other compute compilers to better realize the potential of NVIDIA GPUs for computational workloads including deep learning, scientific computation, and autonomous driving. You will be a key member of a small team working on a core compiler component to accelerate general purpose computation on the GPU, collaborating with compiler, architecture and application teams across locations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a small team of engineers working on compiler middle-end optimizations.
- Analyze the performance of application code running on NVIDIA GPUs with the aid of profiling tools.
- Identify opportunities for performance improvements in the MLIR/LLVM-based compiler optimizer.
- Design and develop new compiler passes and optimizations to produce robust, supportable compiler and tools.
- Add support for architectural features for in-progress GPUs in LLVM and MLIR.
- Interact with the open-source LLVM community to ensure tighter integration.
- Work with geographically distributed compiler, architecture, and application teams to oversee improvements and problem resolutions.
- Be part of a team at the center of deep-learning compiler technology spanning architecture design and support through higher-level languages.
Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
- 12+ years experience in compiler optimizations such as loop optimizations, inter-procedural optimizations, global optimizations, and program analysis.
- 3+ years technical leadership experience.
- Excellent hands-on C++ programming skills.
- Experience writing significant analysis or transformation passes in the LLVM framework.
- Understanding of processor ISA (GPU ISA would be a plus).
- Strong background in software engineering principles with a focus on crafting robust and maintainable solutions.
- Good communication and documentation skills and self-motivated.
Ways to stand out
- Experience in developing applications in CUDA or other parallel programming languages.
- Deep understanding of parallel programming concepts.
- Experience working on compile-time or JIT compilation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range:
- Level 5: 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD
- Level 6: 272,000 USD - 425,500 USD
- You will also be eligible for equity and benefits (link to NVIDIA benefits page in original posting).
Additional information
- Location specified: Redmond, WA, United States.
- Employment type: Full time.
- Applications accepted at least until July 29, 2025.
