NVIDIA is searching for a highly motivated CAD Engineer to join the Advanced Technologies group. You will develop tools that improve productivity for custom circuit designers worldwide. The role focuses on automating design processes, developing and supporting CAD infrastructure for advanced process technologies, and working directly with IC designers and CAD tool vendors. This role requires a strong electrical engineering background and strong programming skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support component libraries for advanced process technologies: develop and maintain technology files, symbols, gates, and pcells; support various netlisters.
  • Install, configure, and support foundry PDKs.
  • Maintain the custom design environment used by schematic and mask designers.
  • Write scripts and automation using Perl, Python, and Cadence SKILL (and Tcl where appropriate).
  • Support and maintain CAD tools used by IC designers, including Cadence Virtuoso, IC-Manage, HSPICE, ADE, various simulation tools, and Verilog / SystemVerilog flows.
  • Work with CAD tool vendors to evaluate new tools, solve bugs, and improve usability.
  • Develop infrastructure to support design work in new process technologies.
  • Provide development and user support; interact with designers to collect bugs and follow up with AEs on bug fixes.

Requirements

  • B.S. (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years' experience.
  • Basic understanding of MOSFET device behavior, CMOS layout, and VLSI design.
  • Excellent programming skills and a strong background in Cadence SKILL, Perl, and Python.
  • Experience with Tcl is expected.
  • Experience supporting and configuring foundry PDKs and custom CAD tool environments.
  • Experience with CAD tools and flows such as Virtuoso, IC-Manage, HSPICE, ADE, and Verilog / SystemVerilog.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; passionate about providing excellent end-user support.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience developing pcells in photonics processes.
  • Familiarity with Analog Design Environment (ADE) and interacting with designers to collect and track bugs.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce.
  • Familiarity with LSF or similar job scheduling systems for distributed computing.
