At a glance

We are looking for an enthusiastic senior data engineer to join the Finance & Risk (F&R) Data Domain. The role is senior-level and the posting references a hay level 11 (€63,000 - €100,000 yearly gross, based on a 36h/week salary scale). The position is for 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an example for the team in development practices, clean code and software design.
  • Champion good development practices (rigorous PR reviews, coaching junior engineers, helping steer design decisions).
  • Contribute directly to the codebase and take end-to-end responsibilities as part of a devops team.
  • Monitor production processes and troubleshoot issues.
  • Create new data products (onboarding new data, adding transformation logic etc.).
  • Add features to underlying platforms and improve/optimize existing code.

Requirements

  • Senior experience in data engineering (posting lists 8+ years in the main text and 10+ years under “We ask”).
  • Strong experience with Python.
  • Experience with PySpark and Databricks.
  • Proficient SQL skills.
  • Experience with Airflow for scheduling.
  • Good knowledge and practice of software development practices, including clean code, (unit) testing and design patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with monitoring production processes and troubleshooting data pipelines.

We are offering

  • A gross monthly salary range shown on the vacancy page (€5,847 - €8,353 per month) and a referenced hay level 11 of €63,000 - €100,000 yearly gross (salary references are based on a 36h/week scale and include holiday allowance & benefits budget).
  • The position is stated as 40 hours per week.
  • Excellent employment conditions, a pension scheme, five weeks of vacation plus two mandatory days off, option to buy up to four extra weeks, five extra days for personal development/volunteering, and a €1,000 yearly development budget (accumulates up to €3,000).
  • Annual public transport pass for travel throughout the Netherlands (business and private).

Interview process

  • Initial screening followed by a first interview covering role and experience.
  • Technical assignment and technical interview (assignment covers basic aspects of the job and is a starting point for the second interview).
  • Optional third round to meet management and discuss strategic themes.
