Reddit is looking for an experienced Data Science Manager to lead the Safety Insights Data Science Team and make Reddit the safest and best-moderated platform by uncovering insights and driving strategic initiatives. This role partners closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Enforcement, Threat Analysts, Operations and Marketing to build and improve systems that continuously drive impact.
Responsibilities
- Directly lead a team of data scientists supporting Safety & Moderation; mentor the existing team and hire new talent.
- Serve as a thought leader drawing on domain expertise, understanding user needs and business goals, and the evolving ML/LLM landscape.
- Drive adoption of strategic and tactical recommendations based on deep product knowledge and data skills.
- Act as a thought-partner for product managers, engineering managers and leadership across Safety & Moderation to shape roadmap and strategy by identifying actionable insights through deep-dive analyses.
- Be involved across phases of enforcement strategy and product development: ideation, exploratory analysis, opportunity sizing, metrics design and governance, offline modeling, experimentation, decision-making, post-launch monitoring and measurement.
- Focus on collection and quality of underlying data, experiment design and analysis, data deep dives, and work on ETLs, reporting dashboards, and data aggregations needed for business tracking and/or ML model development.
Requirements
- Track record of driving trust & safety product strategy and roadmaps through analytics for consumer technology products and marketplaces.
- Proven success building, leading, and developing high-performing product analytics and modeling teams (ideally 5+ years of leadership, managing a team of 5+ data scientists).
- Demonstrated expertise in causal inference, A/B testing/experimentation, metric definition and governance, and product strategy development.
- Experience overseeing ML/LLM development or evaluation processes.
- Track record of enabling analytics self-serve capabilities for cross-functional teams.
- Skilled communicator, able to engage technical and non-technical audiences and translate complex concepts into simple terms.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python/R for hands-on data analysis, including working side-by-side with data teams.
- Collaborative, evidence-based approach to forming and advocating for product opinions.

Pay Transparency
- Base pay range for this US-based position: $232,500 - $325,500 USD
- Eligible to receive equity (restricted stock units) and, depending on position, may be eligible for commission. Additional benefits listed on the company careers page.
